STAFF RECRUITMENT AT ABB GROUP - UAE - USA - SINGAPORE

June 27, 2020 0

ABB  is a pioneering technology leader in power grids, electrification products, industrial automation and robotics and motion, serving customers in utilities, industry and transport & infrastructure globally. Continuing a history of innovation spanning more than 130 years, ABB today is writing the future of industrial digitalization with two clear value propositions:

bringing electricity from any power plant to any plug and automating industries from natural resources to finished products. As title partner in ABB Formula E, the fully electric international FIA motorsport class, ABB is pushing the boundaries of e-mobility to contribute to a sustainable future. ABB operates in more than 100 countries with about 147,000 employees.

In 1990, ABB purchased Westinghouse's metering and control division (the load control division was spun off to Cannon Technologies in the late 1990s and the meter division was spun off to Elster Electricity in the early 2000s). Also, in the early 1990s, ABB purchased Combustion Engineering (C-E), headquartered in Stamford and Norwalk, Connecticut, a leading U.S. firm in the development of conventional fossil fuel power and nuclear power supply systems to break into the North American market. Klaus Agthe was CEO of the US operation at the time. Continuing with its expansion plans, ABB purchased Elsag Bailey,a process automation group, in 1997 which included Bailey Controls, Hartmann & Braun, and Fischer & Porter. This was the largest acquisition to date in ABB's history.

In December 2008, ABB acquired Ber-Mac Electrical and Instrumentation to expand its presence in western Canada's oil and gas industries.

In 2009, ABB realigned its automation divisions . As of January 1, 2010, the business units in the Automation Products and Robotics divisions were regrouped into two new divisions – Discrete Automation and Motion, and Low Voltage Products. The Process Automation division remained unchanged except for the addition of the instrumentation business from the Automation Products division.

MEARSK OIL & GAS JOBS IN UAE - BAHRAIN - USA

June 23, 2020 0

About Maersk Oil
The origins of Maersk Drilling can be traced to the Danish Underground Consortium (“DUC”), established in 1962 among Maersk, Shell, and Gulf to exploit the resources in a defined area of the Danish part of the North Sea. By 1972, DUC produced first oil in the Danish part of the North Sea, and later that year, the Maersk Storm Drilling Company was established in a joint venture with Dearborn-Storm Drilling Company and underpinned by two semi-submersibles named Zephyr I and Zephyr II.
These rigs were owned by Maersk Drilling but operated by Storm Drilling. The following provides an overview of some of Maersk Drilling’s key periods and corresponding milestones since its inception.
Maersk Drilling established the Atlantic Pacific Marine Corporation (“APMC”) in the United States that would serve as a basis for building knowledge concerning drilling technology including the training of Maersk Drilling employees in the U.S. state of Louisiana. This further led to the construction of the jack-up Maersk Explorer, delivered in 1975 as the then world’s largest jack-up rig.

Following the ordering of Maersk Explorer, Maersk Drilling continued with a further ordering of five new drilling rigs of a variety of types including two jack-ups, a semi-submersible floater, a drilling tender and a so-called self-contained platform rig. While these units were being built Maersk Drilling established its head office and operations centre in Copenhagen while APMC continued as a U.S.-based drilling company and further acted as a training centre for the crews on the new rigs.

In 1976, Maersk Drilling established a 50-50 joint venture with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation to create the Egyptian Drilling Company. Following its inception, the joint venture remained operational for more than 40 years until December 2017, when Maersk Drilling sold its 50% shareholding in EDC to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation.

Between 1978 and 1986, Maersk Drilling completed a second extensive Newbuilding programme. Two of these rigs, Maersk Giant and Maersk Guardian, were built for operation in harsh environments and waters as deep as 394 feet in the North Sea

About Schlumberger
Schlumberger is the world's leading provider of technology for reservoir characterization, drilling, production, and processing to the oil and gas industry. Working in more than 85 countries and employing approximately 100,000 people who represent over 140 nationalities, Schlumberger supplies the industry's most comprehensive range of products and services, from exploration through production and integrated pore-to-pipeline solutions for hydrocarbon recovery that optimize reservoir performance
With a history and culture of science and innovation, we’re the world’s leading provider of
reservoir characterization, drilling, production, and processing technologies to the oil and gas industry.

Working globally, we invent, design, engineer, apply, and maintain technologies that help our customers find and produce oil and gas more efficiently and safely—often in remote and challenging locations.

Founded in 1926, the company takes its name from Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger, brothers who transformed the energy industry with the revolutionary idea of using electrical measurements to map subsurface rock formations.

We employ around 100,000 people of more than 140 nationalities and work in more than 85 countries. We leverage strong local experience and work hard to attract, retain and develop diverse talent.

You will always be encouraged to grow and you will never stop learning. Join us today to help us meet the technical challenges of tomorrow’s upstream oil and gas industry.
The world’s first well logging company had its origins in the Alsace region on the French-German border, where Conrad Schlumberger (born 1878) and his brother Marcel (born 1884) grew up as part of a family of six children. Their father, Paul Schlumberger, was descended from a wealthy cotton-weaving family; their mother, Marguerite de Witt, was a political activist and campaigner for women’s rights.

Conrad and Marcel both wanted to be scientists and their father supported their ambition. The brothers were sent to Paris to further their education. Conrad became a physicist, graduating from the École Polytechnique in 1900, before studying at the École des Mines. Marcel became an engineer, graduating from the École Centrale Paris in 1907.

Conrad took an early interest in earth sciences and developed a particular interest in prospecting for metal ore. He realized that metal ores should be distinguishable from their surroundings by measuring their electrical conductivity, as ore-bearing rock would be more conductive than what was around it.

If an electric field could be generated below ground, voltage measurements at the surface could be mapped to show lines of equal potential—equipotential curves—which could then be compared with what would be expected if no ore were present. Any differences could indicate the presence of mineral deposits.
